    Keep species, location, date, finder and chip number together when known. Leave unknown health facts unconfirmed.

  2. A foster call with context

    Look up the foster home's contact, animal types and recorded capacity, then confirm actual availability with the person.

  3. Separate steps after intake

    Use the vaccination area for available records and open a placement case later, once the group has completed its own checks.

Example: a dog found near a park

A finder calls in the evening about a young dog. It has a collar, but neither owner nor vaccination history is known. The rescue group needs safe overnight care.

Questions before you start

Do I need a chip number at first contact?
No. Record it once someone has reliably read it; an unknown value should stay unknown.
Does saving a case notify authorities or assign a foster home automatically?
No such automatic notification or direct assignment from the found-animal case is established here. Your group handles those contacts and records what it did.
Can the animal later enter an adoption process?
There is a separate animal register and placement area. Check identity, health and your authority to place the animal first.
