Know the buried services before opening the trench

For sewer crews coordinating a route, utility enquiries and site measurements under one job. The desk shows which operator replies are outstanding; it does not obtain those replies or establish a safe dig location for you.

  1. One job for the crew and office

Keep the job name, client, site address and contract amount together so field records have a clear home.

  2. Replies with a visible status

Record an operator, service category, reference, deadline and status for each enquiry. Change the status only when an external reply arrives.

  3. Measurements tied to the route

Earthworks and survey views accept entered route points, width and depth. Any calculated quantity depends on those measurements.

How Sektura helps with everyday work

Example: a water connection across the sewer line

In this fictional site example, a crew will replace a short sewer run in a residential street. A drawing shows a water service near the proposed trench, but its position has not been confirmed.

  1. Log the operator

The site manager links the water operator and its reply deadline to the job, then makes the actual enquiry outside the desk.

  2. Read the reply

When the operator's information arrives, she marks it received and checks the plan and surface marks with the crew on site.

  3. Revise the record

The team adjusts the route before digging and records the measured points and trench dimensions, leaving the unresolved crossing in the site notes.

The job shows the reply status and revised route. The crew still decides how to proceed using the real operator information and site checks.

Getting started is simple

How it works

  1. Create a contracted job

Enter its name, client and the contract amount required by the project form; add the site address and manager.

  2. Track each affected operator

Create a separate enquiry record with operator and deadline. An open record is not a sent request.

  3. Verify and measure

Obtain the replies, resolve discrepancies on site, then enter the measured route, width and depth.

Questions before you start

Will the desk request utility plans for me?
No. It records the operator, contact, deadline and status. You contact the relevant operator and review the reply yourself.
Can I update a route after the site walk?
The earthworks and survey areas store entered route points and dimensions. Check both the measurements and any quantity derived from them.
Does “received” mean permission to excavate?
No. It is a status you set, not a safety clearance. Confirm the actual location and necessary controls with the responsible parties under local rules.

Plans need a site check

A line on a drawing is not proof of its exact position underground. Follow the operator information and the site's safety process before excavation.

Check a sewer route before excavation

Existing utilities need checking before a sewer trench is opened.

  1. Collect utility information and ground reports.

  2. Walk the planned route with the relevant site trades.

  3. Record deviations and unresolved questions in the job file.

The crew has an agreed route and a list of open issues.
